Pages vs InDesign: Where Is the Italics Option?

I am involved now with a project that requires using Adobe InDesign, a popular design programme that has become the industry standard over the past several years. So I will be able to make some comparisons with iWork/Pages stemming from practice as is the rule on this blog. I usually don't blog about anything that I haven't tested and verified in practice.

One quick observation: in Pages, to put text in italics you just do Command+i to a selected portion and the font changes to italics, if it is available. In InDesign there isn't such option - you have to go through the toolbar font options. Or am I wrong?

It follows a much older convention namely

    CMD + SHIFT + I

    So also for Bold,

    CMD + SHIFT + B

Yes, I am using InDesign CS4, and it works exactly that way that I indicated. I just tested it again now.

Do you have that combination assigned somewhere else?
